Communities of Care and Dignified Aging: The SUAM-CUSUR Experience as a Model of Social Sustainability

Population aging is one of the main social challenges of the 21st century, demanding inclusive communities that guarantee care and dignity for older adults. In this context, the University System for Older Adults (SUAM) of the Centro Universitario del Sur (CUSur) at the University of Guadalajara constitutes a model of social sustainability aimed at building caring communities.
This study, with a qualitative and narrative approach, systematizes the experiences of academics, students, administrators, and civil society linked to SUAM-CUSur. The results highlight four central axes: social participation, community approach, university outreach, and social responsibility.
