The Municipality of San Juan del Río in the state of Querétaro stands out as one of the leading agricultural axes of the region due to various competitive advantages that its agri-food chain presents, such as agro-industrial vocation, strategic location, and agro-climatic conditions, among others. The objective of this study was to analyze the leading strategic production chains of the agricultural sector in the municipality of San Juan del Río through the collection of statistical information on types of crops, planted area, and estimated production value. The results show that during the
period 2011 to 2020, agricultural production has increased in this municipality, having as leading agricultural production chains: roses, green chili, grain corn, red tomato, and alfalfa. The productive chains derived from these crops can generate economic income and employment in rural areas and favor small producers’ integration into the region’s development dynamics. However, knowledge and technology transfer must be carried out to adopt the technical management of production and the administrative and economic management of the productive units to obtain better results in the agricultural and business environment.
