Abstract

The lower participation of the State in the economy has led to new ways of organizing society to counteract the effects of the growth model in the Latin American region. The document determines the contribution of civil society organizations (CSOs) to the Millennium Development Goals in 12 Latin American countries during 2000-2012. The Pool Mean Group estimation methodology is used, contributing to the limited literature on the quantitative effect of CSOs on social development. It is found that these organizations favor social development efforts, so social policies should consider these types of organizations as key actors.
